Block Facebook and Instagram on Google Chrome

Get the extension

Open a new tab in Chrome. Go to the Chrome Web Store by searching for it in the address bar.

Once the store loads, use the search bar at the top middle. Type BlockSite and press Enter.

In the results, select BlockSite - Website Blocker for Chrome. Click Add to Chrome.

Confirm by selecting Add extension. Chrome will install the extension and add an icon to your toolbar. That icon is where you control blocked sites.

Add Facebook to the block list

Click the BlockSite icon on your toolbar. A pop up window will appear where you can enter site addresses to block.

Enter the full Facebook URL, then click Add site.

Facebook is now blocked in Google Chrome.

Add Instagram to the block list

Click the BlockSite icon again to add another site. The same pop up will appear.

Enter the Instagram URL, then click Add site.

Instagram has been added to your blocked list.

Manage or unblock later

If you ever want to unblock these sites, open the BlockSite icon again. Remove the URLs from your blocked list.
